Our Story
ExpatLingo started in 2024 when our founders—a tech professional who relocated from Tehran to Amsterdam, and a product designer who moved from London to Berlin—realized they faced the same problem: existing language apps were useless for their actual needs.
They had both used Duolingo religiously. They both had impressive streaks. And they both froze in their first work meetings because they knew how to order coffee but not how to explain a product roadmap.
The gap was clear: language apps were designed for tourists and hobbyists, not for professionals building careers in new countries. So we built what we wished existed: a language learning tool that treats you like the smart, busy professional you are.
